Introduction
Transition is one of life’s unavoidable realities. People move through changes in family, work, ministry, leadership, ageing and responsibility, often without controlling when those changes begin. Preaching during the Day Two morning session of Greater Works 2026, Bishop Tudor Bismark declared, “Every single day of your life, you are in transition. Transition doesn’t ask for permission.”
Using Acts 1 and major biblical periods as his framework, the Zimbabwean church leader explained that God works through seasons and raises extraordinary individuals to prepare His people for what comes next. His message challenged believers, churches and institutions to respond to transition with spiritual discernment, patience, organisation and intentional succession planning.
God Raises People for Transitional Seasons
Bishop Bismark described a dispensation as a period during which God deals with humanity in a particular way to achieve a desired outcome. He traced transitions through the ministries of Noah, Abraham, Moses, John the Baptist, Jesus Christ and the apostles.
According to him, extraordinary individuals often emerge during overlapping seasons to prepare others for the future. Noah built the ark before the flood, Moses organised Israel between promise and law, and John the Baptist announced the arrival of a new era.
He therefore urged believers to recognise what God may be releasing in important spiritual moments.

Four Requirements for Navigating Change
The message identified four essential responses to transition: focus, patience, cooperation and prayer.
Focus prevents people from becoming distracted during uncertain seasons. Patience is necessary because transformation may take longer than expected. Cooperation allows individuals to work with new leaders, unfamiliar systems and changing responsibilities. Prayer provides the spiritual strength needed to process change faithfully.
“Without prayer, transition becomes almost impossible,” Bishop Bismark stressed.
The Seven Foundations of Successful Transition
He presented seven elements that must be preserved during leadership or organisational change: the man, method, message, mandate, mission, money and mastery.
The right person must be identified and prepared. Effective procedures and legal documentation must be established. The central message must remain consistent, while the mandate and mission provide direction. Resources must be available for the incoming leader, and excellence must be intentionally transferred.
He warned that poor documentation, weak systems and inadequate financial preparation can damage ministries, businesses and families after a founder or leader departs.
Succession Must Be Deliberate
Bishop Bismark called for continuous training in leadership, management and the responsible use of authority. He also highlighted the importance of passing on values, knowledge, relationships and ownership.
Using Moses and Joshua as an example, he explained that Joshua served and learned for decades before receiving responsibility. Succession, therefore, must involve more than appointing a replacement; it requires impartation, mentorship and preparation.
Leaders must also watch for hidden agendas, remain flexible and ensure that their actions and attitudes support the transition.
Conclusion
Bishop Tudor Bismark’s message presented transition not merely as disruption but as an opportunity to advance God’s purposes. Successful transitions require prayer, strong structures, sound strategy, capable people and a commitment to developing future leaders.
Whether in a church, family, business or nation, what has been built should not end with its present leader. With humility, planning and spiritual sensitivity, each generation can preserve its message, strengthen its systems and prepare the next generation to go further.
